Config Armory - OSP settings

To most veteran RTCW players it is no longer imaginable that we used to play RTCW without the OSP mod. Orangesmoothie has provided us lots of extra cool and useful features for RTCW without changing the way RTCW plays. Thank you Rhea!

This file defines OSP specific settings. These settings do not kick in until you connect to an OSP server. It's a good thing that most RTCW servers run the OSP mod nowadays though because the settings here allow players to get rid of some of the most annoying effects in the game. Effects such as bloodsplatters and screenflashing are known to drive players crazy. They make it impossible to see what is going on for a short moment after being hit. This means that once somebody has the upper hand it is very difficult to retaliate and be victorious. The OSP settings evens things out so it comes down to skills more.

There are more settings that come in very handy for competitive players. Just scroll down to learn about those settings and how to modify them to your personal preferences.

seta cg_announcer "1" If enabled, voice announcements will be broadcast.
Keep this enabled if you want to hear Warwitch from TSN say things like "start!" and "Axis win!".
seta cg_autoAction "7" Sets automatic actions to be taken, 1=start demo at start of each round, 2=take screenshot at end of each round,4=save game statistics to file at the end of each round. Add the numbers of the actions you want.
Above sentence explains all really. For example, add "1" and "4" if you want to automatically record demos and save statistics. Red always wants everything so he set this to "7". Some German leagues force players to keep this at "7".
seta cg_autoReload "0" If enabled, weapon reloads automatically when out of ammo.
Sometimes life is better without automatic reloading because it allows you to quickly switch to pistol using the scrollbutton and fire the last bullet needed to frag your opponent. This prevents losing a firefight because your weapon automatically started reloading in the middle of it. Red finally got around to force himself to get used to this tactic.
seta cg_bloodFlash "0.0" Sets amount of blood marks on screen when hit.
In non-OSP RTCW blood marks appear onscreen if you get hit. This is annoying because they obscure your view of the action. Fortunately OSP offers this option to disable that, which Red has done.
seta cg_bloodDamageBlend "0.0" Sets amount of red flash on screen when hit.
Another "great" bonus when you get hit in RTCW... The screen flashes red when you get hit, making it impossible to see anything. OSP allows you to disable this, which Red has done as well.
seta cg_complaintPopup "0" If enabled, show complaint popup when killed by a teammate.
Although complaint pop-ups are useful when playing on servers with a lot of lame-asses, most of us quickly find a server where a complaint pop-up is no longer necessary because nobody intentionally kills his teammates. This makes complaint pop-ups unnecessary and annoying. OSP offers the option to disable the pop-ups. An option which is used.
seta cg_crosshairPulse "0" If enabled show crosshair pulse to show amount of bullet spread.
Normally your crosshair increases in size if your moving a lot and your aim is therefore inaccurate. This has been disabled here because there is no real use for it.
seta cg_drawReinforcementtime "1" If enabled, draw reinforcement time on HUD.
One of the best features of OSP. If this is enabled, and it is, then OSP draws a timer on screen that shows when the next respawn is up. It allows you to quickly commit suicide to replenish health and ammo, teleport to a more suitable spawn point or change class.
seta cg_noammoAutoswitch "1" If enabled, switch to other weapon when out of ammo.
If you disable this option you'll just keep hanging on to the same weapon, even if you are out of bullets. Red rather has a loaded weapon in his hand.
seta cg_useScreenshotJPEG "1" If enabled use jpeg as default format when taking screenshots.
Jpeg is a nice format. RTCW uses the TGA format by default, but this option lets you change that. Not really necessary in this config pack because default screenshot is not even bound to a key, but this option is enabled anyway.
seta cg_crosshairAlpha "0.500000" Sets transparency of first crosshair color. Crosshair health must be set to 0 though.
This sets the transparency of the colored area around your crosshair dot. This allows you to see through your crosshair and gives you a better view of the action.
seta cg_crosshaircolor "green" Sets first color of crosshair.
This sets the color of the dot in the middle of the crosshair. Kept green because it gives a nice contrast with red.
seta cg_crosshairColorAlt "red" Sets second color of crosshair.
Red set this to green to make it easy to keep track of the crosshair. Sounds weird, but it helps when everything goes blurry because you're engrossed by the action.
seta cg_crosshairAlphaAlt "1.000000" Sets transparency of second crosshair color. Crosshair health must be set to 0 though.
The dot in the middle of the crosshair is pretty small, so there is no need to make this transparent. It does not obscure the view that much.
seta cg_drawWeaponIconFlash "0" If enabled, show colored flashing around weapon in HUD to show status of weapon. Totally useless.
You know when you are firing a weapon. You also know when you are reloading. You’ll definitely know when you're out of ammo. So why would you want to see a cheesy colored line around the weapon icon on the HUD?
seta cg_printObjectiveInfo "1" If enabled, show objective messages in console.
Objective messages keep players up to date on the proceedings in the game. Enable this to see messages like "Axis blew up the communications tower". Very useful and therefore enabled.
seta demo_drawTimeScale "1" If enabled, briefly display time scale at demo key points.
Unknown
seta mv_sensitivity "20" Sets mouse sensitivity when in Multiview.
Multivew is a nice option that lets you record demos that have the ability to show you views of the game from every player's perspective. It also allows for picture in picture. Players use a pointer to control Multiview demos. This setting sets the sensitivity of the mouse during Multiview demos.
seta cf_wstats "1.2" Specifies the font scale of the +wstats window.
After each game OSP allows you to take a look at the game statistics. This settings specifies which font size will be used to show those statistics.
seta cf_wstopshots "0.8" Specifies the font scale of the +wstopshots window.
After each game OSP allows you to take a look at the best aimers of the game. This setting specifies which font size will be used to show those.
seta ch_font "2" Specifies the font type used throughout the game. "0" is default, 1 and 2 gives alternative fonts.
OSP offers the ability to alter some of the fonts used in the game. Change this setting to either "0" of "1" to use a different font. This is set to "2" for better readability in combination with heavily tweaked graphics.
